Description

Epaderm3-in-1 Ointment can be used as an emollient directly on the skin, as a skin cleanser, and as a bath additive. Epaderm Ointment contains only 3 ingredients and is effective in the management of dry skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

The 3-in-1 formula in Epaderm Ointment helps to aid moisture retention in the skin and reduces itchy skin. Epaderm Ointment contains only 3 ingredients and is free from fragrances, colourings and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) for reduced risk of skin sensitisation.

Ointments are the most effective form of emollient. Yet, some people don’t find them cosmetically acceptable due to their greasy feel. If you suffer from very dry skin and cracked skin then ointments are the right choice. Epaderm Ointment is highly effective when used at night for long-term moisturisation. It can be used by people in all ages including babies.

Directions

Epaderm Ointment has 3 different methods of application.

Apply directly as a skin moisturiser:

  • When applied directly on the skin, Epaderm adds a barrier on the skin to seal moisture. Apply generously and as often as needed - even when you see improvement in the skin.

Lather under warm water and use as a skin cleanser:

  • Epaderm Ointment can replace soaps and detergents, which can have drying effects. With Epaderm you can wash without loosing additional moisture. Lather a small amount under warm water and use as a normal soap.

Add to the bathwater for a soothing bath:

  • A third way to rehydrate is to soak the skin in an emollient bath. Take 4g of ointment and melt it in a container of hot water. When the mixture has cooled sufficiently then add it to the bath.
Precautions

Be careful when using Epaderm Ointment in shower and bath as it can make the surface slippery. Always use a non-slip mat.

Epaderm Ointment is for external use only.

Side Effects

Skin irritation can occur in people sensitive to any of the ingredients. Check the list of ingredients before use.

Scientific Research

For people with Psoriasis

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find clinical data on the benefits of Epaderm Ointment on psoriatic lesions.

However, the products contains liquid paraffin and yellow soft paraffin both known to prevent water evaporating from the skin's surface. When comparing with normal, healthy skin, water evaporation is increased in psoriatic conditions (1).

For people with Eczema

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find clinical data on the benefits of Epaderm Ointment in people with atopic dermatitis. However, the products contains yellow soft paraffin and liquid paraffin known to help prevent water evaporating from the skin surface. In atopic dermatitis, water loss from the upper skin layer is linked to a reduced skin barrier function (2). This reduced barrier function makes the skin more susceptible to external triggers which may induce inflammation and aggravate the condition leading to further itching and scratching (3).
