Emollin Spray takes a quite unique approach to protecting dry, fragile, or damaged skin.

The emollient is applied directly to the affected area using a non-aerosol "bag in can" design. No cold propellants are necessary and it can be sprayed while held in any position.

This is a hygienic and convenient way to apply emollient – especially in hard-to-reach areas of the body. This makes the spray suitable for elderly or less-mobile people, as well as children.

As well as there being little risk of contamination, no rubbing of the skin is involved, which can aggravate some skin conditions.

Like other emollients on the market, it is paraffin-based, but it is non-greasy and contains no preservatives or additives.

The paraffin is dissolved in volatile silicone that quickly evaporates to leave only the emollient on the skin. This forms an ‘occlusive’ layer, which lowers the rate of water evaporation from the skin’s surface. The hydrating effect helps dry, scaly, or flaky skin moisturise and become smoother.

Emollin Spray can be used on damaged or sensitive skin as often as needed. Spray onto affected areas as directed, for relief from dry, itching, or irritating skin.

You can hold the spray at any angle (even upside down). Lightly spray the skin from a distance of around 15cm. This should create a thin, unbroken layer of emollient on the affected area.

You can use a towel to protect surfaces, and to prevent the floor from becoming slippery.

Emollin Spray is considered safe to use, but, as always, keep out of children’s reach. You should also avoid the spray getting onto hard floors, as it may make them slippery.

The spray should be used externally only, and make sure that no spray enters the eyes. Check the list of ingredients and refrain from using it if you have a hypersensitivity to any of them.

While few people experience complications, stop using the spray immediately if you experience a skin reaction.

The spray is considered safe for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, however, it is always best to check with your doctor before use.

Because Emollin Spray uses a pressurised container, do not puncture it or expose to temperatures above 50°C. It contents flammable content, so keep away from sources of ignition and dispose of responsibly.

Side Effects

No side effects of using Emollin Spray have been reported, and there are no known interactions with other medicinal skin products.

Avoid use if you are allergic to white soft paraffin or light liquid paraffin.

Scientific Research

For people with Psoriasis

HelloSkin’s experts did not find clinical studies that have examined the benefits of Emollin Spray on psoriatic lesions.

However, the product contains white soft paraffin and light liquid paraffin. Water evaporation is increased in psoriatic lesions compared with normal skin, and these ingredients are known to help reduce water from evaporating from the skin surface (1).

In dry skin conditions, including psoriasis, water loss from the upper skin layer is linked to a reduced skin barrier function, which may be worsening the disease symptoms (2).
