Description

E45 Cream is a white non-greasy emollient with a quick absorption time suitable for both adults, children and babies. It contains anhydrous lanolin with waterproof properties to protect the skin. It also contains white soft paraffin that works as a moisturiser by providing a layer of oil on the surface of your skin, and light liquid paraffin with moisturising properties that gives the cream its smooth and soft texture. The cream is especially suitable for dry and sensitive skin.

The non-greasy texture makes it convenient for daytime use, making it perfect for use on either hands or the face. The cream is specially developed for dry skin conditions, eczema, flaky skin, itchy skin and sunburn. Make this cream part of your daily routine with recommended application 1 to 3 times a day to keep your dry skin condition under control.

Scientific Research

For people with Psoriasis

E45 Cream contains lanolin (a waxy substance obtained from the wool of sheep and sometimes called wool fat). A lanolin/olive oil emollient applied for four weeks in pre-term infants has shown to reduce dermatitis and was reported superior to a water-in-oil emollient cream (1).

In another study, pure lanolin applied twice daily for four weeks was shown effective in treating moderate to severe foot dryness (2).

It is important to notice that lanolin may cause contact allergy. But, the lanolin used in this product is a form called Medilan, which does not cause contact allergies (3).

Furthermore, the product contains light liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin, which is known to prevent water evaporating from the skin surface. Water evaporation is increased in psoriatic lesions compared with normal skin (4).

The experts at HelloSkin were not able to find any clinical data on the benefits of E45 Cream specifically on psoriatic lesions.

For people with Eczema

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find any scientific evidence on the use of E45 Cream in people with atopic dermatitis. However, the product contains light liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin, which are known to limit water evaporating across the skin surface. Water evaporation in atopic dermatitis and other dry skin conditions is linked to a reduced skin barrier function (5).

The product also contains lanolin (a waxy substance obtained from the wool of sheep and sometimes called wool fat). A lanolin/olive oil emollient applied for 4 weeks in preterm infants was shown to reduce dermatitis and was reported superior to a water-in-oil emollient cream (1).

Another study showed that pure lanolin applied twice daily for four weeks was effective in treating moderate to severe foot dryness (2).

It is important to note that lanolin may cause contact allergy. However, in this product the lanolin used is a form called Medilan™ which is thought not to cause contact allergies (3).
