Description

Cetaphil Moisturising Cream is an intense, non-greasy preparation designed to rehydrate very dry skin, such as that experienced by people living with psoriasis.

Using strong emollients and humectants, such as glycerin, petrolatum, dimethicone, and sweet almond oil, the cream forms a protective ‘barrier’ on the skin’s surface which slows down the rate of moisture evaporation; it helps the skin attract and hold moisture better.

These actions hydrate the upper layers of skin cells, reduce severe dryness and flakiness, and relieve itching and soreness. With regular use, the skin will feel softer, smoother, and more pliable.

Cetaphil Moisturising Cream can be used on the whole body, including hands, feet, joints, and other areas that may experience dry skin. It is quickly absorbed and can be used by most people.

Scientific Research

For people with Psoriasis

In patients with mild to moderate plaque psoriasis that did not use any topical psoriasis treatments, the use of Cetaphil Moisturising Cream for four weeks has been found to benefit skin hydration without increasing water evaporation from the skin surface. Also, the dryness of the psoriatique plaques was reduced over time (1).

Also in individuals with rosacea, the use of Cetaphil Moisturising Cream twice daily for 15 days reduced skin dryness, roughness and desquamation whereas skin sensitivity was reduced (2).

The product contains petrolatum, that is known to help limit water evaporation from the skin, which is known to be increased in psoriatic lesions compared with healthy skin (3).

Also, the product contains glycerin, which is an important constituent of the natural moisturising factor of the skin (4). In the skin, glycerin helps attract water from the deeper skin layer and bind water in the skin and thereby provide a moisturising effect (5).
