Comment Policy

We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome when posting comments on HelloSkin. That’s why we reserve the right to delete comments and ban users as needed to keep the comment threads here friendly, encouraging and supportive.

Our No. 1 rule is simple: Be kind.

Here’s what that means in practice:

  • Contribute supportive, encouraging ideas and opinions. This is a space to support one another on a journey to healthier skin. The more we can help each other with our shared experiences, the better.
  • Don’t give medical advice. We appreciate the fact that you want to help other Helloskinners, but even so, we cannot allow comments containing medical advice on this page due to the potential severe consequences that such advice might have. Always remember that information found online must never be used as a substitute for advice provided by a doctor.
  • Don’t use inappropriate or offensive language. Seriously, just don’t. Any comments containing language that targets people on a personal, religious, cultural, ethnic, gender or age specific information basis will be removed immediately, and your account will be blocked.
  • Don’t feed the trolls. We know it’s hard, but don’t engage in arguments or confrontations if provoked. Leave it to us to handle any trolling or inappropriate behaviour.

Here are some of the kinds of comments we will remove:

  • Promoting your own brand, product, or blog. We love sharing and promoting other bloggers, but we’d prefer that you email us a link to your content. We’ll find an appropriate way to share your work.
  • Comments that are completely off subject. Sometimes discussions veer off a bit. That is fine. Hijacking the conversation to promote off-topic discussions is not.
  • Threats — no matter how vague. Again, seriously, just don’t. We are very protective of our community and any threats made will be taken seriously. We will do everything we can to keep this a safe space to contribute and share experiences.
  • Trolling.  If you are not contributing constructively or meaningfully to the conversation, expect to have your comments deleted and your account blocked.
