Tips for teenagers suffering with acne

For the majority of teenagers, having clear skin is extremely rare and managing blemishes can be a struggle. For sufferers of acne, this small issue can become a nightmare and knowing how to deal with the condition may be a real challenge. If you are a teenager and looking to keep your acne under control, here are some tips to bear in mind:

1. Keep your face clean

Any teenager should keep up a skin regime by cleansing and moisturising on a daily basis, however, this is even more relevant for acne sufferers. Teenagers produce large amounts of oil on their skin which needs to be kept at a minimum to avoid acne breakouts. Wash your face with warm water and apply a very mild cleansing solution both in the morning and in the evening. If you are looking for the perfect acne treatment for you, why not take a look at our website for a range of our products.

2. Don't use harsh scrub cleansers

Aim to use gentle solutions on the face and completely avoid harsh scrubs which could cause irritation to your spots. It is absolutely fine to exfoliate once in a while, but try to keep this in moderation to avoid taking off too many layers of the skin.

3. Avoid products containing alcohol

When purchasing acne treatments, always ensure you read the label of ingredients beforehand. Products containing alcohol should be avoided at all costs, as they can strip off the top layer of skin and cause serious inflammation to acne spots. The result of alcohol-based products may leave the skin feeling dry, itchy and aggravated.

4. Don't pick your spots

Although teenagers tend to pick their spots, it wouldn't be recommended for acne sufferers. Your fingers and fingernails contain harmful bacteria which could then be transferred to your face and may result in serious inflammation or infection. Leave your spots to clear up in their own time as part of the healing process.

4. Be aware of the sun

Lazing in the sun seems always seems like a good idea until your acne starts to flare-up. Always apply sun cream during the hot summer months, as some acne medications are highly sensitive to the sun and may cause inflammations.
